Shreekhand Mahadev

My Trek to Shreekhand mahadev was an amazing trip to heaven . It is like full if adventure and something new on every step . The Scenic beauty at every turn is completely breathtaking . It is just my try to explain you my experiences over there although its just impossible to feel it without going there . The feeling is just awesome when you are there . The air is so clean , the sky is so clear and the weather is so fresh all the way . You can experience all kinds of weather in a single hour on your way ,( rain, snow, sun, wind ). The weather there changes so quickly  . Don't get amazed if it rains five minutes after a bright Sun shinning on your head . The whole way is full of ups and downs on the way with lots of waterfalls , rolling stones and rigerous rock also .

HOW TO REACH :

  • Take a bus from delhi bus stand to Rampur via Shimla. It will take you about 8 hours to reach shimla and more 5-6 hours to reach Rampur .
  • From Rampur you have to take a local bus or private taxi to village jaon . Jaon is a small village from where the trek to Shreekhand Mahadev commences .
  • From Jaon you go all the way crossing all the junctions in between the way to reach the main Shiv linga .
  • Return bach to Delhi .

First Day of my trek was not too tough . I started from Jaon a Village in District Rampur . This Village has got many guest houses as it is the first village to start your trek for Shreekhand Mahadev . From here you will find the forest full of Cannabis Leaves all around you till the next village i.e. Singhgad . This is you last chance to see Cannabis as you will keep on leaving behind all kind of vegetation slowly after this . The jungle on the way is beautyful wid lovely flowers and waterfalls . After a walk of about an hour You reach Singhgad .

Singhgad is said to be the place where Lord Shiva's tiger is said to visit and the roaring of the tiger can still be heard here at nights . Crossing Singhgad you reach Barati Nala . Nala is said to be small water source , but actually it is a large river which you have to cross on your foot . The water is really freezing and you cant manage to be in the water for long . This is done just to avoid a long walk of  6 km through the jungle . After you cross Barati Nala you see long dense Jungle . The jungle is so dense that only few sunlight manages to reach inside it . It is steep uphill that you have to cover . The toughest part of that Jungle is that you wont find a single water stream through out the jungle gng uphill .
You may even starve of water and some people do plan to go down hill for water after crossing half the way . So DO CARRY YOUR WATER BOTTLES FILLED UP AT BARATI NALA . Because after that you wont find any water for about 5-6 hours . Crossing that dense forest you Reach your First base camp . THACHRU .
Thachru is the place where you can have the first glimplse of LORD SHIVA LINGA . Many people who are not fit to gor further just have a glimpse of it from here n worship Bhole baba from here only and return bak home . So it is beleived that your journe is Half way if u reach till here , but still its a long way to go . You can have your First base camp here n stay at night . You will be provided food and shelter here .

Second Day early in the morning your have to overrule your fatigue and pack your bags and tie up your shoes as its a long way yet to go in front of u . You have to the travel through some difficulties from now . So make your mind like that . After this you have to climb 80 degree uphill for about 3 hours . It just takes away all you energy . This steep hill is said to be Dandidhar .
After climbing it you reach a plain land where you find clouds floating at your level . You can also see  beautyful mountains all covered wih snow if the clouds just stop playing hide n seek with you . Wind blowing swiftly here and is extremely cold . You dnt wish to stay over here for long and just plan to keep moving . You have to go Downhill now . Steep downhill that u may slip down if the rocks so be carefull at every step and just be concious while stepping on each and every stone that comes your way . This is a bit relaxing as u are going down hill and you start having the best of nature's beauty all around . I found the first Glacier of my trip during this. This place is known as Kali Ghati . Crossing Kali Ghati you reach Bheem Talai .

You can also find place to rest and something to eat in Bheem Talai . Going On and On you travel about 20 Km in you whole Day. We crossed about 5-6 small Glaciers till your way to Bheem Dwar . We had Bheem Dwar as our second base camp. From here the real Trek starts . You have SHIVA LINGA, the long glaciers and  beautyful  waterfalls in front of you .

Third Day you Have to be really quick and start as soon as possible because its your day when you have to return back as there is no base Camp after this instead of parbati bagh which is like 5 Km from this place .  As you start you have to cross Parbati Fall . This is the longest waterfall of the whole trip with a glacier running over the water stream .

The water to this fall is aid to be coming from NAIN SAROVAR . Nain Sarovar is said to be made by Godess Parbati's Tears . This is an amazing place and the beauty of this place cant be explained in words .
After this you Reach Parbati Bagh . This Is a Uphill Grassland . It has many different type of herbs and Medicinal plants which releases some gases when there is sun shinning over them . These Gases can be Smelt by you if you crossing through . But they are just too harmful as it gives you a mesmerizing feeling and can make you drizzy . This may also result in your Fainting Down the hill At any Time . So Its advises to cross parvati bagh as soon as possible without stopping or you may even wait for the sun to settle down . So it is advised that you reach here by Sunset or by Dusk when the sun is not shinning bright on the herbs .

Crossing parvati bagh You just reach the most beautyful part of the Trip .It the final journey to reach lord Shiva now . The snow covered mountains which we were seeing for so long , we are now just moving over them.  Also you see Nain Sarovar ,  the frozen lake at a height of about 4200 m .  This lake in a shape of Two human eyes thus satisfyng its name as NAIN means EYES In hindi . You just have to make your own way after you cross nain sarovar .

You will see Yellow marked rocks all the way . So just follow these rocks and whenever you dont find any such rock just wait and try to find any such rock even if you have to return a bit in you way for that . You may get lost if you are not followng these yellow marked rocks as glaciers are like jungles ,you will never know what way you are going .

Climbing up following the yellow marks you reach the top of the hill crossing all the glaciers . Beware while crossing the glaciers . They shimmer a lot of sunlight and can glare on your eyes and can streak your eyes for some seconds as sunlight is reflected through it . So Do carry your sunglasses with you . Also while crossing the glaciers dont stop at any point for long . Find your next step as soon as possible as the ice starts to melt as you wait at a single pint for long . Also Do not step on the corners of the Glacier as the ice is soft at the corners and can break easily which may take you down . Do not even make lot of noise in Glaciers . Making too much noise is a cause for making weather conditions worse for you in there .
These all measure should be kept in mind while crossing Glaciers.

Crossing all these difficulties you will see The Tall and Big SHIVA LINGA in front of you which just take you aback. It is just so magical and the aura is so pure . You feel yourself so close to god and you actually feel the existence of God as no other power can exist there . The atmosphere is so pure and fresh . It takes you aback at first to see such a miraculour 72 feet long SHIVA LINGA on the top of the hill .

You just dont have any option to think other than God's existence over THERE when you see such a big and huge LINGA on the top of the mountain ... Just in the focus behind the Shiva Linga is Kartiken Parvat . Kartiken was LORD SHIVA'S son . It is a steep mountain and it is said that no body could ever reach that hill . Not even LORD SHIVA .

All your Fatigue is gone and you are again full of power,( SHIVA POWER ). And the best part is you can find some mobile signal there after almost 3 days  at the highest peak, which was also a miracle for me . So you can even share your great feel being at the top of the world with your loved ones .There is lack of oxygen in the air at the top so you can't wait for long over there . And thus you have to rush back as soon as possible . I stayed there for about 45 min there and It was just awesome . Just 45 min after travelling for about 4 days . But it was completely satisfying only with a single Glimplse of LORD SHIVA LINGA...
IT is just great feeling which is actually unexpressabvle so do visit and experience yourself .
